Housing, Special Designs and Equipment

The transformers listed in this catalogue are shown in their standard version and with connecting terminals. Other common means of contacting apart from connection via terminals include connection via free wire or litz wire ends, soldering tags, flat connectors, etc. Our team of experts will be glad to advise you about the possibilities of using special electrical and mechanical constructions.

It transformers are installed in a housing this reduces heat dissipation. Either the power which can be drawn from the transformer is reduced or the maximum permissible ambient temperature. Heat dissipation through ventilation apertures or forced ventilation offers a remedy in this case. These measures are, however, directly linked to the required type of protection so that the conditions must be defined for each particular case. Means of electrical protection (fuse-link, circuit-breakers, etc.) and temperature monitoring are available for protecting transformers.

Upright Housing for Transformers Type H

Standard model:
material St 1203, plastic-coated
colour RAL 7032, pebble grey matt
type of protection IP23
one cable bushing at either end of the housing

The housing specifications on the transformer data sheets refer to the standard model with horizontal ventilation slots, as illustrated. The specified insulation class ta = 40°C/B becomes ta = 25°C/B when the transformer is installed in this housing.

Type H housings can also be supplied with covers for wall mounting with the slots turned by 90°C. Covers without ventilation slots for type of protection IP44 and covers without ventilation slots with sealing for type of protection IP54 can also be supplied. Transformers for type of protection IP44 and IP54 must, however, be specially calculated.

Floor-Mounted Housing for Transformers, Type BA2271 - BA2287

Standard model:
material St 1203, lacquered
colour RAL 7032, pebble grey structured
type of protection IP23
one input and one output cable bushing

Compact switch cabinets

Standard model:
Material sheet steel
Colour RAL 7032, pebble grey
Type of protection IP55

A comprehensive choice of sizes and accessories are available with these cabinets. The cabinets can be equipped with slots for natural convection as well as with filtered ventilators.

In this case the type of protection must be re-defined according to the ventilation provided. Handles and transport wheels can be fitted to facilitate mobile use.

Which cabinet is best suited for the installation of a transformer depends on the power loss occurring, the type of ventilation, installation conditions, the required type of protection, etc. It is not possible to match transformer type sizes directly to cabinet sizes. We will be glad to submit proposals to you for your special application on request.
